Phone codes in the Republic of Macedonia
The international code for dialling Macedonia is +389. This is followed by the city/area code (e.g. (0)2 for Skopje) and then the phone number required.
Remember: If you dial from abroad you should ignore the zero "0" of the area code, for example for Skopje, you should dial only "2".

Mobile phone operators
There are three mobile phone networks in Macedonia, namely One (www.one.com.mk), T-Mobile (www.t-mobile.com.mk) and VIP (www.vip.com.mk), which are all similar in price, and cover more or less the same parts of the country. Foreign travellers can purchase a prepaid SIM card to use in their mobile Prepaid SIM cards can be bought from any One, T-Mobile, and VIP shop, although note you need a passport to get started. Start-up costs for Cosmofon and T-Mobile are 690den, of which 600den can be used for calls. The VIP service currently costs 200den, all of which can be used as calling credit. Top-up cards can be bought from most kiosks.

If using your mobile phone while in the Republic of Macedonia, you should ensure that it is equipped for roaming before you travel. If you use a pre-paid mobile, it may not be possible to use your phone while in Macedonia. Please check with your provider whether they have an agreement with a Macedonian provider. You may also wish to register with your provider to allow you to top-up via the internet, through your mobile, or by text.
